AMI is a not-for-profit media company that entertains, informs and empowers Canadians who are blind or partially sighted. Operating three broadcast services, AMI-tv and AMI-audio in English and AMI-télé in French, AMI’s vision is to establish and support a voice for Canadians with disabilities, representing their interests, concerns and values through accessible media, reflection and portrayal. AMI channels are free as a part of a basic digital cable package in Canada.

Are you a student with a permanent disability? AMI’s Robert Pearson Memorial Scholarship Program is open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada with a permanent disability who are currently registered in and returning to a full-time program of study at an accredited Canadian post-secondary college or university. In 2021, AMI will award two $5,000 bursaries to two deserving students with a permanent disability; one from the English community and one from the French.

AMI-tv produces an array of original content with a focus on accessibility and inclusion. The original program AMI This Week provides a weekly account of community events, inspiring people and interesting stories from across the country. Our Community highlights the people, places, organizations or things that have made life a little more enjoyable for individuals living with a disability across Canada.

Hosted by seasoned broadcaster and journalist Dave Brown, who is blind, the program airs live weekdays at 9 a.m. ET on AMI-audio and AMI-tv. NOW with Dave Brown is fearless in how news of the day is addressed, arming listeners and viewers with information about what’s going on in their community, their city, their province, their country and their world.
