AMI-tv's Fall Lineup

  • The NOW News Panel assembles to ponder the fate of the Prime Minister’s residence at 24 Sussex.
    • Concerns have been raised over the state of the Prime Minister’s residence at 24 Sussex.
      • It has served as the official residence for Canada’s PM from 1951 to 2015.
      • A report in 2021 stated it would cost upwards of $37 million to conduct necessary renovations. 
  • Inmates at Newfoundland and Labrador’s largest prison are sounding the alarm about the condition of the facility. The panel reacts to this story.
    • The inmates say that they spend days locked in their cells without family visits, counsel sessions, or access to outdoor facilities. 
      • An inmate died at Her Majesty's Penitentiary Tuesday and it marks the seventh death in the province to be investigated since 2017.
      • The province has the highest rate of inmate suicide in Atlantic Canada.
      • The conditions and lack of resources have taken a major toll on inmates’ mental health. 
      • The Newfoundland and Labrador government has promised to build a new jail to replace the facility.
      • Staffing shortages have been cited as a contributing factor to these issues. 
  • Ontario is imposing restrictions on athletes and celebrities endorsing and advertising gambling sites. The panel show their hands on this topic. 
    • The restrictions have been proposed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
      • The restrictions come into effect by the end of February 2024. 
      • They compare how different rules apply to industries like alcohol, gambling, and cannabis.
  • Michael McNeely shares his mid-season review of the Amazon Prime series, “Harlon Coben’s Shelter”
    • The series is based on the bestselling novel series by Harlon Coben. 
    • The eight-episode series continues to be released with the season finale set to be released September 22nd. 
  • AMI Communications Specialist Greg David stops by to highlight several shows returning to AMI-tv. It’s all part of the AMI-tv’s fall lineup.  
    • He highlights “Healthy at Home” which will be expanding to hour-long episodes. 
      • “Healthy at Home” returns Wednesday September 6 at 7 p.m. Eastern on AMI-tv
    • Greg also discusses “Access Tech Live” with Mark Aflalo and Steven Scott.
      • The show debuts Thursday, September 14 at noon Eastern on AMI-tv.
    • He promotes season 4 of “Level Playing Field”, hosted by Greg Westlake.
      • The series returns with a new slate of para-sport athletes and grassroots organizations.
      • “Level Playing Field” debuts Tuesday October 3 at 9:30 p.m. Eastern.
    • Lastly, Greg highlights “Mind Your Own Business” with Kevin Shaw.   
      • “Mind Your Own Business” returns Wednesday November 15 at 9 p.m. Eastern.
