  • Milena Khazanavicius chats about a new accessible taxi service coming to Halifax

      • And Milena gives details about the ‘Quiet Parade,’ an inclusive celebration at this year’s Nocturne Arts Festival 
        • The event is a low-stimulation celebration taking place in Halifax on October 15. The parade will be as silent as possible to allow full enjoyment for those with sensory disabilities and who are on the autism spectrum. Audio description will be done by Kat Germain

  • And in our accessibility story roundup, we chat about the CNIB's upcoming tele-townhall with Canadian broadcasters to discuss the availability of described video during primetime hours (7 p.m.–11 p.m.). This tele-townhall is an opportunity for you to hear from Canada's largest broadcasters about how they are addressing the availability of described video. There will be an opportunity to ask questions as well

  • Nelson Rego from Cool Blind Tech describes a new assistive robot for physiotherapy 
    • And for his tech tip of the day, he tells us how to use live captions on an iPhone . His step-by-step instructions are as follows: 
      • First, open the Settings app on your iPhone
      • Go to the “Accessibility” section
      • Select “Live Captions” 
      • Toggle on “Live Captions” at the top of the screen
      • Alternatively, you can choose to only use Live Captions in certain apps. On that same page, you can toggle on “Live Captions in FaceTime” and “Live Captions in RTT” (real-time text)
